Has anyone used a scooter rack as made by Dave Cooper for transporting their scooter instead of using a trailer? If so did your car handle the extra weight ok? I am looking into purchasing one as an alternative to my trailer as I just don’t have enough space to store the trailer. I would be interested in anyones views on the subject.
I think you’d probably want to refer to your car’s handbook to see what your vehicles rear suspension weight limit is & towbar manufacturer specification. For most ordinary family runarounds I believe it’s usually only about 75 -100 kg at the towbar and your scoot + rack are going to be way more than that
Thanks for the reply, you have confirmed what I thought might be the case, so I will need to look for plan B
I used to tow a small box trailer with 1.0l Kia Picanto with a factory fitted tow bar. It was limited to tow 750kg. A scooter only weighs around 100kg and the trailer about the same. I should think anything could tow a scooter. A chap I know tow’s a small box trailer with a Honda CB250.
Do you mean roof rack? That would usually be a max of 75kg-100kg?
